Zerode Bikes

Wellington, New Zealand

Zerode Bikes, a New Zealand brand with clear objectives in mind: simplicity and reliability, two factors that enhance the performance of its highly exclusive and sought-after products.

Zerode is a leader in the use of belt transmissions with Pinion gearing or Gearbox. These transmissions differ from classical ones in their operation and their main components, as they do not have a chain, but a belt, and a gearbox located inside a compartment installed in the frame.

This system has a number of important advantages over the use of a classic transmission:

  • Protected transmission: who hasn't happened on a single track to hit a rock that got the better of the gearbox, leaving you stranded? With the Pinion rear in the frame, this problem is just a memory.

  • No chain fall: the belt gears system and its pulleys prevent the chain from accidentally falling off under heavy stress.

  • Much quieter bike on the descent: have you ever tried riding downhill without a chain? With belt gears, the sensation of silence is very similar to that. Thanks to the belt made of a non-metallic material, the riding experience is much quieter and purer, especially on downhill and on technical trails, where a normal chain drive with the classic gearbox obviously tends to create vibrations and metallic noises due to the stresses given by the terrain.

  • Mass reduction on the rear wheel: allows better performance of the rear suspension, thanks to less moving weight, enables a more stable ride and better grip on the ground.

Zerode bikes are available with two types of Pinion gears: 12-speed C1.12 or 9-speed C1.9XR. Both have a very wide ratio range, 586% for the 9-speed and 600% for the 12-speed.
